First Day School |

| First Day School meets every week from September through early June at 10 am until everyone proceeds upstairs to the Meeting Room to join the adults at 10:45 am.
Elementary A is for children from pre-kindergarten to first grade. Children listen to stories, draw, prepare food for the potlucks and help with plantings. First Day School Meeting is for children from second through eighth grade. It runs like the larger Meeting – we have a clerk and separate committees. We hold monthly Meeting for Business where we discuss, reach consensus and go forward with projects. The Hospitality/Building and Property Committee is responsible for the state of our meeting place and takes care of such things as replenishing the bird feeder weekly, spring and fall planting, the game center and the annual potluck prepared solely by First Day School. The Peace and Social Concerns Committee is charged with the task of raising money and goods for charity. It maintains a monthly canned good collection for Camp Street Ministries, an annual gift giving project for a family shelter at Christmas, and raises money for AFSC. It is working on preparing and distributing Emergency Disaster Kits. The Media/Newsletter Committee has a section in The Provident FRIEND called the First Day School Meeting Newsletter. Everyone in the First Day School Meeting writes articles. This committee is responsible for updating this webpage. |
