Providence Friends Meeting Guidelines for Meetinghouse Licensees |
|||||||
Welcome to Providence Meeting House. Part of our ministry is to share that with which we are blessed; however, we ask that those who use our worship home respect the Friends’ testimonies of simplicity, peace, integrity, community, and equality. Please discuss questions or matters that are not clear with your liaison* before your event. Neighborliness: We are in residential areas, so we strive to be good neighbors and conduct ourselves in a manner consistent with the ambience of the neighborhood. Loud music, late night noise, or outdoor behavior must in no way disturb our neighbors. During the day, street parking is preferred. Parking behind the building is limited to deliveries or handicap access. Overnight street parking is not permitted in the City of Providence, so the back lot may be used for overnight parking with prior consent. Children under the age of 18: With God’s help, we seek a community where no child is at risk for emotional, physical or sexual abuse and where no adult is at risk for false accusation. Therefore, children must be supervised by at least two adults who are well-known to the organizer, and the parents of child participants must be welcome to participate in all activities. Meeting room use: This is our place of worship; therefore, we ask that you do not take food or drinks into the Meeting Room upstairs at any time. Kitchen use: Please do not use the stove for frying foods or cooking foods that emit a fatty vapor. In fact, deep frying is not permitted by the fire code. Dishwashers: Set to ‘Normal,’ add detergent, and push the ‘START’ button. Refrigerator: You may use any available space while you are using the Meeting House. Please do not remove food already in the refrigerator. Coffee: Instructions are posted on the wall near the machine, and there is one 30-cup urn for heating water. Please use your own coffee and additives. Please remove all of your food, equipment, and garbage after your event is finished and leave our facilities clean and ready for the next use. Care of property: The Meeting House and its furnishings, while perhaps not in the category of antiques, are valuable to us and we ask that you treat them gently. If, however, you damage the property, please be straightforward and let us know. In addition, to preserve the meetinghouse as a place of worship, we specifically request that the guests refrain from:
We ask guests to be sure everything is cleaned up and put in its place when they leave. Telephone: Use your own telephone number(s) as contact for your event. Please do not answer or use the Meeting telephone. Emergencies: Location of the Providence Friends Meetinghouse:
First aid kits: in the kitchen in the cabinet over the stove and in the upstairs nursery bathroom over the toilet. * a Meeting member assigned to the rental group to communicate/expedite/clarify the various details.This document was approved at the PMM Meeting for Business on December 9, 2012
