Our Broken Criminal Justice System

Several months ago I started a conversation with Mark C. about inviting Providence Meeting to participate in a Community of Learning, a program that AFSC Healing Justice is developing.  It will involve a series of sessions to look deeply at our broken "criminal justice system", at crime, and at what harms our communities, and will consider what true healing would look like.  I will also be forming a similar group at DARE ( a neighborhood group on the South Side) and perhaps eventually we would meet together.  I have invited Jamie Bissonette-Lewy, who is piloting this work, to meet with us on on Monday night, May 14. (Jamie is only in the area a few days a month.) I am hoping that a few of you (or others who you think might be interested) can meet with her at the Providence Meetinghouse at 6:30 PM to learn more about what is involved.  I think you will find it a potentially really exciting program for the meeting.  Their website will go live in a few days and I will pass that on to you as well.
