in Rhode Island, meeting weekly for worship

Walk cheerfully over the earth answering that of God in every person.
– George Fox

In keeping with our belief that there is that of God in every person, Providence Monthly Meeting welcomes all persons regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity, race or color, national or ethnic origin, sex, age, or disability.
Worship at the Providence Friends Meetinghouse

Friends continue to gather in person on Sundays at 10:00 AM. Currently, we encourage, but do not require, the wearing of masks in the Meetinghouse. However, the situation is fluid, please be aware that our policy may change.

Friends also continue to gather on-line (via Zoom) at 10:00 AM on Sundays. Please email clerk@providencefriends.org for links, questions, or more information.

Worship with Us

Providence Friends Meeting is a gathering of Quakers in Eastern Rhode Island. We worship at three different locations and invite you to join us at any of them.

Learn about Us

The Religious Society of Friends, commonly known as Quakers, is a faith founded on the premise that there is “that of God in each person.” We welcome everyone of any race, sex, or faith to join us.

Peace and Social Justice

Providence Friends Meeting (“Quakers”) affirmed in Meeting for Business on July 12, 2020:

As Quakers, we are called to a testimony of equality, to “answer that of God in everyone”. This testimony requires us to challenge the historical and current-day racial inequities that surround us, and in which we participate. We are deeply grieved as we take note of the white supremacy and structural racism that are present in our society, in our meeting, and in us as individuals. We are committed to undertake a process within our meeting to examine these truths deeply and to consider, with divine guidance, what may be needed to transform our lives, our meeting community, and our society. We commit to undertaking a process of self-examination and corporate action to do our part to bend the arc of the moral universe towards justice.
